Local heritage book of DingelstedtDingelstedt am Huy is located about 12 km northwest of Halberstadt, on the north side of the Huy, in the district of Harz in Saxony-Anhalt. About 1300 people live there. The village was founded around the Üppelquelle (Üppel - a small brook). Dingelstedt was first mentioned in documents in the 11th century. Dingelstedt am Huy consists of the villages Dingelstedt am Huy, Röderhof, Mönchhai, Huysburg, Arbketal, Forsthaus Ziegenkopf and Gambrinus. Due to potash mining in neighboring Wilhelmshall, Dingelstedt am Huy, like other villages in the area, experienced a boom. The connection to the railroad network is mentioned here as an example. The spelling of the surnames was different and changed multiple times. Examples are Besarg - Wesarg, Lehr - Löhr, Boggelsack - Bögelsack, Hohmann - Homann, Keiser-Keyser-Kaiser or Hopfe-Hoppe. This local family book should be a research aid. It is not a binding document. According to the terms of use, here is the link to the catholic church records: I would be very pleased to hear any hints and additions. |
