After Laurenz's first wife died (Maria Adelheid Kotte died in April 1881) he went back to Germany and asked his god-daughter to come back to America to care for his children. She must have accepted, in Oct 1881 they traveled back to America, and in Dec 1881 they married. In Oct 1882 she had a son.
